BUCK-TICK’s Sakurai Atsushi Dead at 57

It has been announced that BUCK-TICK frontman Sakurai Atsushi died at the age of 57 on October 19 at 11:09 PM JST due to a brain stem hemorrhage.

On October 19, Sakurai canceled the first day of the band’s fan club only live event, “BUCK-TICK FISH TANKer’s ONLY 2023”, at KT Zepp Yokohama due to poor health. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

According to his family’s wishes, Sakurai’s funeral was private, with only close relatives in attendance. According to his management, a public remembrance ceremony will be held at a later date.

BUCK-TICK made their major debut in 1987, and broke through the following year with the single “JUST ONE MORE KISS.” Having never changed the members, the band just celebrated their 35th anniversary.
