Snow Man’s Shota Watanabe to Star in First Leading Role in a Drama

A day after Snow Man‘s Hikaru Iwamoto was revealed to be starring in his first leading role in a drama, his groupmate Shota Watanabe is doing the same!

In January, the drama “Sensei Sayonara” will make its debut in Nippon TV’s “Shindora” timeslot. The drama is a live version adaptation of Yasuko‘s manga of the same name. Shota plays the role of Tanura Takuro, a 27 year old high school art teacher who is popular with his students, a big brother figure. The drama is a love story that shows Takuro in the present, as well as in the past when he was a 17 year old high school student. A female student that he invited to join his art club falls in love with him, as he encourages her in her school life. One day, she finds a drawing of an unknown woman in his sketchbook. The woman is his high school teacher he fell in love with as a 17 year old.

Of playing both a high school student and teacher, Shota said that the two intertwining stories are like two dramas in one.

Snow Man’s new song “We’ll go together” will serve as the theme song for “Sensei Sayonara.” The song is described as a sad, but bright, song about moving forward.
