20th Century to Open Coffee Shop

On November 1, 20th Century will open a coffee shop, Kissa Nijusseiki, on the first basement level of the CORAL Building in Tokyo’s Jingumae section.

The group decided to open the coffee shop, which is based on Showa era kissaten, due to the fact that this style of coffee shop has been declining in Japan. Kissaten have been in decline due to the fact that they are family businesses, with aging owners and deteriorating buildings. 20th Century loved kissaten as children, and wanted to keep them around for the future. They have been working on this idea since the summer of 2021. They have actually taken over a kissaten and revived it.

Kissa Nijusseiki will sell speciality coffee, Napolitan, egg sandwiches, and soda inspired Showa era kissaten. The shop will also sell packets of coffee and coffee beans. It will also feature a custom vintage JBL soundsystem which will play original songs that can only be heard in the shop.
