Tippy Toes is XG’s debut single and is a minimal, hip-hop-influenced track. This braggadocious song heavily features the group’s rappers with short bursts of their vocalist’s capabilities during the pre-chorus and bridge sections.
At first, I was still determining if I could do anything with Tippy Toes since the original version is a straightforward composition. When I broke down the song, I noticed the verses are just a single chord, with the complexity increasing as it builds to the chorus. In that respect, it reminded me a lot of (G)I-DLE’s Last Dance.
I listened to the song several times to determine my direction. After a few spins, I programmed the drums for my remix, and the rest fell into place. The final result was an instrumental with a funkier, party track feel that is the opposite of the dark and menacing vibe of the original.
