Perfume Connects 1970 & 2025 World Expos in New Song

On April 2, Perfume will release their new digital single, “Nebula Romance.”

In conjunction with the song’s release, Perfume streamed a live performance called “IOWN x Perfume” using NTT’s next generation information and communications infrastructure “IOWN”. The group debuted their new song while conducting the world’s first real-time spatial transmission.

This live performance connected Expo Commemoration Park in Suita, Osaka, the site of the 1970 World Expo, with Yumeshima, the site of the 2025 World Expo, via IOWN, allowing people to share sensations across the divides of time and space. The goal was to transmit Perfume’s performance from a special venue set up on the site of NTT’s 1970 Osaka Expo Telecommunications Building to the NTT Pavilion in Yumeshima, including the entire space and its vibrations.
