Perfume has announced that they will end their activities at the end of the year and enter into a “cold sleep” starting in 2026. This message was posted on the group’s official website today, September 21, the 20th anniversary of the group’s major label debut.
In their statement, Perfume said, “The center of all of Perfume’s activities is live performances. We will gather together at the same time and place as you, and give everything we’ve got to resonate with you. Every time I stood on stage, my heart was burning, knowing that this might be the last time such a miracle would occur. The time we spend together is our reason for living and is irreplaceable.”
They continued, “‘Leaving our shining legacy in history.’ That was one of Perfume’s dreams. And now, in order to capture this moment when we can proudly say that we are ‘shining,’ we will put Perfume into cold sleep starting in 2026.”
Given that this is the 25th anniversary of their formation, Perfume sees now as the perfect time for this shift. The trio looks forward to taking on new challenges as a “better and cooler Perfume.”
Incidentally, the term “cold sleep” plays into the group’s current “Nebula Romance” album series. In it, the three main characters, who fall from the moon to Earth, wake up from a state of cold sleep, and begin their musical career as Perfume while also fighting as an elite unit.
On September 22 and 23, Perfume will hold the concerts “Perfume ZO/Z5 Anniversary ‘Nebula Romance’ Episode TOKYO DOME.” The second show will be streamed worldwide via LIVESHIP. More information on that can be found here.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we take a closer look at each of our lives for the first time.

I have never experienced such a time, nor have I ever thought about it that way.
We will probably start with rehabilitation first (laughs), but the three of us wanted to take on the challenge and decided to move forward.
The many scenes we have created together will continue to inspire us in the future.
