Japan Weekend Box Office 08/18 – 08/20. ‘Kingdom III: Flame of Destiny’ tops Japan’s weekend box office for 4 weeks in a row

The weekend movie box office ranking from Aug 18 to Aug 20 has been released and with yet again an unchanged first place. ‘Kingdom III: Flame of Destiny’ was able to keep its spot for the fourth consecutive week and exceeded 4.1 billion yen in cumulative box office revenue. Over the weekend the film attracted 213,100 moviegoers and earned a box office revenue of 314 million yen.  Newly released films in Japan that ranked within the top 10 include the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s manga “SAND LAND”, which debuted in sixth place. 

 

Still going strong, Hayao Miyazaki’s newest Ghibli film “The Boy and the Heron” (also known as “How Do You Live?” went up one spot from last week and finished off the weekend in second place with 203,400 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 307 million yen.
