Japan Weekend Box Office 07/21 – 07/23. “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” becomes the current no. 1 movie in Japan

The weekend movie box office ranking from July 21 to July 23 has been released and last week’s first place spot, Studio Ghibli’s ‘How Do You Live?, has been overtaken by Hollywood film “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” Debuting in first place, the new Mission Impossible film was seen by 692,000 moviegoers and earned a box office revenue of 1,065 million yen. And for the first time in months, no other newly released films were able to rank within the top 10. 

 

In second place, Hayao Miyazaki’s newest Studio Ghibli film “How Do You Live?”, drew in 529,000 moviegoers and earned 831 million yen at the box office revenue. The cumulative results have now exceeded 2.32 million moviegoers and a box office revenue of 3.6 billion yen. Third place was “Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween – Decisive Battle” with cumulative results now exceeding 1.36 million moviegoers and box office revenue of 1.8 billion yen. 

Still ranking within the top 10 in its 10th week since release, “IDOLiSH7 Movie: LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD” now has a cumulative performance of 1.17 million moviegoers and box office revenue that has exceeded 2 billion yen.

 

Making an appearance within the top 10 again was “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK.” It has been revealed that the film will end its domestic screening run on August 31. The cumulative results are now at 10.33 million moviegoers and box office revenue that has exceeded 14.9 billion yen.
