Japan Weekend Box Office 06/09 – 06/11. “The Little Mermaid” Debuts At #1 in Japan

The weekend movie box office ranking from June 9 to June 11 has been released and Disney film “The Little Mermaid” was able to debut in 1st place defeating “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” “The Little Mermaid” recorded 461,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 712 million yen over the weekend. Newly released films in Japan included the Hollywood horror movie “M3GAN”, which ranked in 7th place. 

 

In second place was “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” Over the weekend, 297,000 people attended and the film grossed 432 million yen at the box office. The 3rd place was unchanged from the previous week, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Monster” attracted 190,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 269 million yen. The cumulative attendance for “Monster” has now exceeded 626,000 and 858 million yen in box office revenue.
