On April 11, Awich released her new digital single, “Butcher Shop.” The song features the American rapper FERG, and is produced by RZA of the American rap group Wu-Tang Clan.
“Butcher Shop” serves as the first single from Awich’s upcoming album, which is entirely produced by RZA. The two first met a few years ago when RZA was in Japan. They automatically connected on musical and spiritual levels. Awich has since visited RZA several times, laying the foundation of this work. The two working together is an ideal match, seeing as how Wu-Tang Clan’s music borrows from Asian culture, and Awich is making her American debut as a Japanese rapper.
Awich came into contact with FERG at various overseas music festivals, and visited him in New York. At a JORDAN BRAND event earlier this year, the duo appeared on stage and premiered “Butcher Shop.”
