Awich Launches English Language Study Abroad Program in Atlanta & Okinawa

Fresh off her Coachella debut, Awich is launching a new project, “Know The World -Awich Global Education Project- (Study Abroad in Atlanta & Study Abroad in the Town).” The program sees Awich helping out her fellow Okinawans, who are between the ages of first year high school student and 22, by providing them free English language learning opportunities.

Targeting young people from impoverished households, these opportunities would come in the form of homestays, either in Atlanta or in the homes of foreigners in Okinawa. Awich created this initiative to give young Okinawans a chance to meet the world and carve out a path for themselves in life, and to combat Okinawa’s education issues.

“Know The World -Awich Global Education Project- (Study Abroad in Atlanta & Study Abroad in the Town)” is in collaboration with HelloWorld, an international student exchange company that fosters multicultural coexistence.

The application period for the program is April 23 – May 6. On opening day, an information session detailing the program will be held, and will include a personal message from Awich.

On June 8 – 9, 100 students who passed the initial screening will take part in the “Study Abroad in the Town” portion of the program in Okinawa. At the end of the final day, Awich will hold a lecture talking about her past, as well as her future. In early August, three of the 100 participants will to go Atlanta for ten days as part of the “Study Abroad in Atlanta” portion of the program.
