On December 31, the “76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” will air. The show’s list of performers has just been revealed, and as usual, there are a number of surprises.
Starting with debuts, it should come as no surprise that Chanmina, HANA, FRUITS ZIPPER, and M!LK are debuting on the show this year, given their success as of late. A surprise here would be the debut of Humbert Humbert.
Moving on to acts returning after a break, the past few years has seen the guessing game of whether or not the powerhouse acts of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT would return to the show, given the success they have had with their own New Year’s Eve livestream events, which came in the wake of the banning of the company in 2023 in light of the Johnny Kitagawa abuse scandal. This year sees the company returning to the show via King & Prince. With the female team outnumbering the male team by three acts, could more groups from the company be added later, given how the show has in recent years tarted to add acts after the initial announcement?
Speaking of returning after a break, it should come as no surprise that Perfume has returned to “Kohaku” in their twilight hours before their “cold sleep.”
Some surprising drops from this year’s show include Shiina Ringo, Sakurazaka46, TWICE, Fujii Kaze, and Hoshino Gen.
