On November 5, Snow Man released their fifth album “Onkochishin.” On this week’s Oricon Combined Album chart, the album debuted at #1 with 1,031,312 points. Seeing as how it was not released digitally, this represents 1,031,312 points CDs sold as well, which resulted in Snow Man also topping the Oricon Album chart.
This is Snow Man’s fourth album to debut with over one million copies sold in the first week, following 2023’s “i DO ME”, 2024’s “RAYS”, and this year’s “THE BEST 2020 – 2025.” This makes Snow Man the third male act to have four albums in a row sell over a million copies in the first week, following B’z and GLAY. This feat was last accomplished in December 2000 when GLAY achieved it with their best album “DRIVE~GLAY complete BEST.”
Snow Man also the only act to do this feat in the Reiwa era, male or female.
“Onkochishin” also made history by being Snow Man’s sixth consecutive album to reach total sales of one million, which started with their debut album, 2021’s “Snow Mania S1”, and has continued for the rest of their career. Snow Man is the only act in the history of the Oricon Album chart, which started in 1970, to have six million-selling albums from their debut one.
Snow Man also made history on the Oricon Combined Album chart with “Onkochishin.” It is their second album of the year to reach a million points on this chart, a first in its history.
Of the seven album to reach a million points in their first week on the Oricon Combined Album chart, four are by Snow Man, with the other three being Arashi‘s “5×20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019” from 2019, Yonezu Kenshi‘s “STRAY SHEEP” from 2020, and King & Prince‘s “Mr.5” from 2023.
