Earlier today, NHK chairman Inaba Nobuo held a press conference on the network’s relationship with Johnny & Associates in light of the Johnny Kitagawa abuse scandal. Inaba said that NHK will not make new requests for talent from the company to appear on NHK until Johnny & Associates implements its victim compensation and recurrence prevention measures. Talents who are already under contract to appear on NHK will not be affected by this.
Inaba added that NHK spoke to Johnny & Associates last week about implementing these measures in a prompt and appropriate manner.
NHK’s new policy towards Johnny & Associates does affect this year’s “NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen.”
