The first episode of TBS’ July Friday drama “Warau Matryoshka” starring ARASHI member Sakurai Sho has been set for June 28.
“Warau Matryoshka” is a live-action adaptation of Hayami Kazumasa’s novel of the same title published in 2021. The thrilling and suspenseful drama is about a newspaper journalist investigating the strange relationship between Ichiro Seike, a young politician, and Toshiya Suzuki, his capable secretary, and the darkness surrounding them. Asami Mizukawa plays Kanae Michiue, a newspaper reporter with a sharp mind, Tetsuji Tamayama plays Toshiya Suzuki, a mysterious secretary who has supported Seike for many years, and Sakurai Sho who plays Ichiro Seike, a politician who controls the story.
Along with the broadcast date, scene cuts from the drama have been released. The three released shots are: a shot of Michiue staring at documents with a surprised expression on her face, a scene from a press conference where Seike sends a passionate message to the public as Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare, and the opening scene of the broadcast where Seike and Suzuki face each other. The opening scene was the first time Sakurai Sho and Tetsuji Tamayama appeared together.
