The weekend box office data for the days of September 6 to September 8 saw “Last Mile” bring in 317,000 moviegoers and earn 475 million yen, keeping it in the top spot for the third consecutive week. The cumulative results are now 2.13 million moviegoers and over 3 billion yen in box office revenue. In second place is Hollywood sci-fi film “Alien: Romulus,” which attracted 193,000 moviegoers and earned 319 million yen at the box office in Japan during its first three days of release.
Hollywood animated film “Inside Out 2” has still been showing strong results in Japan despite dropping a spot from last week. This weekend the film came in third place but managed to bring in 123,000 moviegoers and 166 million yen, bringing its cumulative total to 3.59 million moviegoers and over 4.6 billion yen in box office revenue.
Coming in at fourth place is the newly released film “Natsume Arata no Kekkon.” A film adaptation of the popular manga of the same name, it attracted 87,000 moviegoers in the first three days of release and earned 126 million yen in box office revenue. Coming in at eight place is “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Final Chapter.”
