Over the weekend, the box office data in Japan for the last weekend of July saw a new number one with animated film “Despicable Me 4” bringing in 388,000 moviegoers and earning 508 million yen in box office revenue. The cumulative total has now reached 1.26 million moviegoers and 1.6 billion yen at the box office. Dropping to second place, “Kingdom 4” still managed to welcome 364,000 moviegoers and earn 561 million yen over the weekend. The cumulative total has now surpassed 3.13 million moviegoers and 4.6 billion yen in box office revenue. The top 10 has also welcomed 5 newly released films including Hollywood superhero film “Deadpool & Wolverine” in third place with a weekend debut of 297,700 moviegoers and earned 513 million yen in Japan. With the additional numbers from the first day of screening on July 24 the cumulative total has now reached 490,000 moviegoers and 800 million yen in box office revenue in Japan. Newly released domestic film “What if SHOGUN Ieyasu Tokugawa was to become the Prime Minister” starring GACKT saw a debut of 184,700 moviegoers and 253 million yen in box office revenue.
