Japan Weekend Box Office 05/24 – 05/26: ‘Abudeka Is Back’ debuts at number one

Over the weekend (May 24  to May 26) a new film overtook “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram” for the top spot. New addition to the Abunai Deka franchise, “Abudeka Is Back”  attracted 251,600 moviegoers and grossed 353 million yen in its first three days. Other newly released films that were able to debut within the top 10 include “Umamusume: Pretty Derby Beginning of a New Era”  in 2nd place  “Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction” in 4th place and “The Zone of Interest” in 5th place. 

Second place is “Umamusume: Pretty Derby Beginning of a New Era,” is the first film adaptation of the multimedia franchise and attracted 226,600 moviegoers in its debut weekend and earned 354 million yen in box office. Bumped down to third place but still showing strong results, “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram” brought in 200,000 moviegoers and earned 300 million yen in its 7th week since release.
