Friend of the site Patrick St. Michel of The Japan Times recently interviewed Crystal Kay! As she approaches the 25th anniversary of her debut, she isn’t living in the past, even though she is currently experiencing a newfound popularity due to nostalgia for the early 2000s (and the accessibility of JPop internationally that we have today that we didn’t have back then).
In the interview, she looked back on her career, and spoke of her present, such as the recent release of the digital single “That Girl.” She also spoke on her new Gen Z fans, as well as a fanbase that has been with her for entire career: black JPop fans.
