Avex’s new boy group ONE OR EIGHT debuts with digital single ‘Don’t Tell Nobody’

Avex’s new boy group ONE OR EIGHT officially made their global debut on August 16th with the digital single, “Don’t Tell Nobody.” The single is a dance-pop song with lyrics entirely in English that was produced by Ryan Tedder of the American band OneRepublic and David Stewart, who worked on “Dynamite” by Korean boy group BTS. ONE OR EIGHT is an eight-member group consisting of members Mizuki, Neo, Reia, Ryota, Souma, Takeru, Tsubasa, and Yuga. Over the past few months the members were revealed through social media and released a performance video for an original song titled “KAWASAKI” that was uploaded on YouTube. The group showcased their skills through a powerfully choreographed dance number that exceeded 3 million views overnight after its release.

The group name “ONE OR EIGHT” comes from the Japanese idiom “ichi ka bachi ka” (all or nothing). Their tagline is “Bet on yourself” which consists of the meaning of taking on a gamble towards their dream of becoming global stars. This is not the first time Avex has backed an idol group for global expansion. In 2022, global girl group XG debuted under Avex subsidiary agency XGALX and have been making an impact across the globe with songs sung entirely in English. Netizens have noticed the similarities in strategies for both groups and have shown curiosity for what ONE OR EIGHT has in store for their global expansion.
