Released in August 2022, “One Piece Film: Red” was revealed to be doing a one month limited encore screening in theaters across Japan. Due to the encore screening the film took the top spot in the weekend box office ranking from October 20 to 22.The film attracted 122,000 moviegoers and box office revenue of 159 million yen (1.06 million USD) over the weekend. The cumulative results are now at 14.4 million moviegoers and a box office revenue that exceeded 19.871 billion yen (132.7 million USD). Newly released films in Japan that ranked within the top 10 include Hollywood films “Killers of the Flower Moon”, “The Creator”, and domestic film “Omae no Tsumi wo Jihaku Shiro.”
Newly released domestic film “Omae no Tsumi wo Jihaku Shiro” starring Kento Nakajima and Shinichi Tsutsumi debuted in 4th place with 85,000 moviegoers in attendance and a box office revenue of 119 million yen (800,000 USD). The film was based on the novel of the same title by Yuichi Shinpo. Co-stars include Eliza Ikeda, Ikusaburo Yamazaki, and Ayamu Nakajima. Director Nobuo Mizuta has two entries in the top 10 including “Yutori Desu ga Nani ka International” ranked in 7th place.
Dethroned after 5 weeks, “Don’t Call it Mystery: The Movie” went down one spot to second place and attracted 108,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 150 million yen (1 million USD). The cumulative results are now 2.98 million moviegoers and box office revenue of over 4 billion yen (26.7 million USD).
