As previously reported, “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN” is returning for a third season. This season is titled “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS”, and is looking to create a girl group. This is the first time that this show will have a female season, after the first two seasons birthed the boybands JO1 and INI. About 14,000 girls applied to be on the show, the highest number of applicants in “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN” history.
“PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS” will debut on the free streaming service Lemino on October 5, with the finale to air on TBS.
The trainers for the show’s trainees are Rino Nakasone, FTISLAND‘s Lee Hong Gi, Thelma Aoyama, KEN THE 390, and YUMEKI.
It has now been revealed that Kaela Kimura will serve as the show’s national producer representative, essentially the show’s host. Of the appointment, Kaela said she is honored. Like the show’s trainees, she too dreamed of becoming a singer at a young age. In her role, Kaela will cheer on the girls to follow the same dream that she too had when she was younger.
