Utada Hikaru Joins Charlie Puth for “Home”

On March 10, Charlie Puth released his new digital single, “Home.” The song is a collaboration with Utada Hikaru.

The collaboration came about after Charlie approached Hikaru though a mutual music producer acquaintance.

Charlie wrote the song about his wife. On working with Hikaru, he said, “It’s the greatest gift to have Utada Hikaru, one of the artists I respect the most, participate in this song. I’m truly grateful that she added depth and beauty to the song. She’s truly amazing!”

Of the collaboration, Hikaru said, “It was so much fun collaborating with such a talented musician who continues to express his love for music so honestly, and taking on the challenge of adding Japanese lyrics to an English song for the first time. I was amazed by the rhymes in two languages with such different phonological systems, and by Charlie’s wonderful Japanese chorus work. I hope everyone enjoys this bilingual song with a universal message.”
