The 47th Japan Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on March 8, 2024 at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa. The hosts will be announcer Shinichi Hatori and actress Yukino Kishii. The most nominated film is “Godzilla Minus One” with a total of 12 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Actor in a Leading Role, Actress in a Leading Role, and the Best Supporting Roles for both Actor and Actress. The film was also nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards.
Second place for most nominated film is “Mother, Is That You?!” directed by Yoji Yamada and “Monster” directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda with 11 nominations each. Youngsters Soya Kurokawa and Yota Hiiragi were both selected for the Best Newcomer Award following their performances in “Monster.”
