“This Hell” is a track from Rina Sawayama’s latest album “Hold the Girl” and has become a popular LGBTQ+ anthem. The new remix version featuring CHANMINA was released as part of Spotify’s “GLOW” program in Japan, which highlights LGBTQ+ Japanese artists.
“This Hell” is a about the rights that Rina and the LGBTQ+ community have been deprived of. “Sadly, Japan is still developing. The world is changing though, same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination laws, let’s not give up and continue to speak out against these issues until they are changed. We can change this world together. Please fight with us for a better world.” Rina says. “If I can change this kind of hell, I will always raise my voice.” CHANMINA says.
Spotify has also launched PRIDE CODE, a joint project with the Asahi Shimbun Podcast to bring diverse voices from the LGBTQ+ community through music and podcasts. Starting April 12, the Asahi Shimbun Podcast’s news program will feature a series of appearances by leading creative figures in various fields, including Rina and CHANMINA, who will discuss the environment surrounding the community and what is needed to make a change.
