Nishiuchi Mariya Announces Retirement from Entertainment Industry

Nishiuchi Mariya has announced that she is retiring from the entertainment industry when her current management contract expires at the end of the month.

Mariya has not been seen in public since the beginning of the year, and has ceased posting on social media. In a statement on her social media accounts, she said there was some sort of family trouble recently, something that she doesn’t want to explain, and she refrained from activities in case the actions of her family member, which had nothing to do with her, impacted her career in some way.

During this hiatus, Mariya came to the decision to retire from the entertainment industry. She wants to use this time to face her family, as well as herself. She wants to take a break, renew her resolve, and embark on a new life journey.

In regards to this new journey, she said she wants to take the lessons learned in the entertainment industry and apply them to her new life, even if it is different. Mariya is thankful for every day and is now looking for a new life that suits her.

She ended her message by thanking her fans and supporters, saying, “I never wanted it to end like this and I’m sad, but I’m truly grateful.”

Born in 1993, Mariya made her entertainment debut in 2007 as an exclusive model for the teen fashion magazine Nicola. Five and half years later, she became an exclusive model for Seventeen. In 2014, she made her music debut with the single “LOVE EVOLUTION,” which won her the Japan Record Award for Best New Artist. Mariya also had a successful career as an actress, starring in a number of dramas.
