In December, it was revealed that Masahiro Nakai had gotten into “trouble” with a woman in 2023 and paid her settlement money.
Today, in a statement issued on his management’s website, Masahiro apologized for inconveniencing everyone with the scandal. In the statement, he said that he has refrained from talking about the issue at hand due to a non-disclosure agreement with the woman. He admitted that there was “trouble”, and that he and the woman reached an out of court settlement. The incident was resolved through their representatives.
He believes that he has sincerely faced and responded to the woman’s proposal in reaching a resolution. He also denied allegations that he had been violent during in the incident. He said that the “trouble” was all a result of his shortcomings.
The scandal has rocked Japan’s television industry, with Masahiro regularly appearing on several programs. Networks have suspended airing some shows hosted by him, while others edited him out of programs completely.
In regards to his career, Masahiro said that the settlement has allowed him to continue his activities unimpeded.
