Japan Weekend Box Office 06/28 – 06/30: ‘“Let’s Go! Anpanman: Baikinman and Lulun of the Picture Book’ debuts in first place

The box office data in Japan for the days of June 28 to June 30 revealed that the new animated film ““Let’s Go! Anpanman: Baikinman and Lulun of the Picture Book” debuted at number one with 137,000 moviegoers in attendance and 172 million yen in ticket sales. In second place, another new animated film “Look Back” debuted with 135,000 moviegoers and 227 million yen in ticket sales. The film is an animated adaptation of the youth manga written by Tatsuki Fujimoto who is also known for the “Chainsaw Man” series. Other newly released films that were able to debut within the top 10 include Hollywood thriller “A Quiet Place: Day One” in 5th place and domestic film “Secret: A Hidden Score” in 6th place.

Last week’s number one “Dear Family” attracted 107,000 moviegoers and 149 million yen at the box office. The cumulative totals are now 664,000 moviegoers and 908 million yen in box office revenue. Bumped down to 2 spots as well was “90 Years Old – So What?” in 4th place with 97,700 moviegoers and 123 million yen in box office revenue. The cumulative results are now over 374,000 moviegoers and 468 million yen.
