The weekend movie box office ranking from May 26 to May 28 has been released and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” made its way back to the top, beating last week’s first place “Fast X”. “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” had 426,000 moviegoers in Japan over the weekend and a box office revenue of 632 million yen. The cumulative results have now reached 7,057,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 10,058,000,000 yen, making it the fastest Western animated film to exceed 10 billion yen in box office revenue in Japan. “Fast X”, which was bumped down one spot to second place, was able to mobilize 358,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 556 million yen. The cumulative performance is now at 1.33 million moviegoers and a box office revenue that exceeded 2 billion yen. As for newly released films, “Rohan at the Louvre”, based on the character created by Hirohiko Araki of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure debuted at 3rd place with 221,000 moviegoers and 315 million yen at the box office.
