Love MySelf is IS:SUE’s first release of 2025. This digital single is a precursor to their upcoming third single, EXTREME DIAMOND, which will be released on May 21.
Much like during the Welcome Strangers era, IS:SUE is a girl down with Aita Rin on hiatus due to illness. While her absence hasn’t adversely affected IS:SUE too much, seeing the group as a trio is still odd.
Love MySelf is less like IS:SUE’s previous a-sides, which had a strong presence and a street edge. Instead, it is comparable to IS:SUE’s b-sides STATIC and Tiny Step, which lean more towards a pop sound and is about as far away from the streets as possible.
It’s an introspective song wrapped in a catchy, summery dance-pop package reminiscent of something you would hear from America or South Korea, or to put it in a Japanese context, something similar to an avex girl group song.
If that type of sound makes your juices flow, then this latest single from IS:SUE should satisfy you.
As a teaser to EXTREME DIAMOND, Love MySelf does as intended and builds anticipation for the full single. One would assume this will lead to more of the lighter and fluffier songs making their way into IS:SUE’s catalogue, but we shall see.
