In October, it was reported that Yonezu Kenshi‘s “KICK BACK” received a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a first for a Japanese artist.
The RIAA has now named Kenshi as one of its “RIAA Class of 2023” inductees. Since 1958, the RIAA has awarded artists who have received their first Gold or Platinum certification by inducting them into that year’s “RIAA Class.” Given that he is the first Japanese artist to earn a Gold certification, Kenshi is also the first Japanese artist to be inducted into a “RIAA Class.”
