The “76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” is nearing! The show will air on NHK on December 31 at 7:20 PM JST, live from NHK Hall.
The theme of this year’s show is “Tsunagu, Tsunaguru, Omisoka.”, which translates to “Connect, Connect, New Year’s Eve.” This ties back to NHK celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, with hopes that this year’s show’s “wonderful music will continue to connect us for the next 100 years.”
This year’s hosts are Haruka Ayase, Ariyoshi Hiroiki, Imada Mio, and NHK announcer Suzuki Naoko. Ayase is returning to host the show for the first time in six years. Hiroiki is hosting for the third consecutive year. Mio, who starred in NHK’s asadora “Anpan” earlier this year, is making her “Kohaku” hosting debut this year, as is Naoko.
