RADWIMPS announce the departure of guitarist Akira Kuwahara

October 17th RADWIMPS announced on their official website that guitarist Akira Kuwahara would be leaving the band. The band explained his departure by stating, “After working together for over 20 years, differences in our thoughts and feelings gradually arose among the members, and after many discussions, we have come to this conclusion.” They also asked for everyone to continue to support RADWIMPS and Akira Kuwabara.” The official website also included comments from each member, with lead vocalist Yojiro Noda saying, “I am truly grateful to have been able to play music together with you since I was 15 years old. I will continue to support you in your future life as well, Kuwahara.” Debuting in 2003 as an independent band, Noda and Kuwahara were the only remaining members from the original lineup.

Kuwahara commented, “The life I’ve spent with the other members for over 20 years is a treasure to me. Thank you so much for allowing me to have so many dream-like experiences. I will support the future activities of the band.”
