Yasushi Akimoto holds auditions for new male idol group with all members over the age of 25

It has been revealed that an audition for a male idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto, the idol producer behind female idol franchises such as AKB48 and Nogizaka46, will be held. The application requirements state that one must be over the age of 25 and a one of a kind character. The nothing but ordinary members will be unveiled to the public at the time of debut.

The alleged goal for debuting such an unconventional group is to show the strengths of the Japanese entertainment industry. Avex, Japan Music Entertainment, and Y&N Brothers are said to be the three companies involved in the project, making it the first time they have decided to work together as a trio.

Although the auditions are still ongoing, it has already been revealed that the group will perform on television at the time of their debut. The application deadline was originally May 31, but due to the immense popularity of the entries, it has been extended to June 5.

A recruitment video has been uploaded on the official Avex YouTube channel.
