Japan Weekend Box Office 05/19 – 05/21. Fast X Takes the Lead Spot

The weekend movie box office ranking from May 19 to May 21 has been released and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was bumped down to second place after 3 weeks on top. The new number one was the newly released Hollywood film “Fast X” of the Fast and Furious franchise. In its debut weekend, “Fast X” recorded 646,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 992 million yen. Despite being dethroned, The Super Mario Bros. Movie showed strong results with 505,000 moviegoers and 743 million yen in box office revenue. The cumulative results have now reached 6.43 million moviegoers and the box office revenue has exceeded 9.1 billion yen. Newly released films that managed to rank within the top 10 over the weekend include “IDOLiSH7 Movie: LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD”, “Hard Days” and “Shina Pushu.” 

 

In 3rd place there was “Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine” which attracted 257,000 moviegoers and earned 373 million yen. The cumulative performance is now at 8.27 million moviegoers and a box office revenue of 11.7 billion yen. In 4th place was “Tokyo MER: Mobile Emergency Room The Movie” which attracted 169,000 moviegoers and earned 229 million yen at the box office. As for the cumulative performance, the mobilization of moviegoers has exceeded 2.63 million and the box office revenue is approaching 3.5 billion yen.
