The weekend movie box office ranking from May 12 to May 14 has been released and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” kept its top spot for 3 consecutive weeks. Over the weekend the film recorded 721,000 moviegoers and box office revenue of 1,068 million yen. In the 17 days since its release, the cumulative performance has been 5.69 million moviegoers and the box office revenue has exceeded 8 billion yen. Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine was able to keep its 2nd place spot from last weekend and saw an increase of 337,000 moviegoers and a box office revenue of 499 million yen. Also keeping its same spot, in 3rd place “Tokyo MER: Mobile Emergency Room The Movie” saw a performance of 236,000 moviegoers and 324 million yen in box office revenue. The cumulative results have now exceeded 2.29 million moviegoers and 3 billion yen in box office revenue, making it the number one live-action film released this year. Newly released films that managed to rank within the top 10 over the weekend include “Psycho-Pass Providence”, “Let It Be” and “Otonanajimi.”
