Japan Weekend Box Office 02/10 – 02/12

The weekend movie box office ranking from February 10th to 12th has been released and “Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village” kept the top spot for two consecutive weeks. Over the three days weekend Demon Slayer had an increase of 402,000 moviegoers and 571 million yen in box office revenue, making cumulative performance exceed 1.47 million moviegoers and 2 billion yen in box office revenue. New films that ranked in the Top 10 this weekend consisted of the 25th Anniversary re-release of “Titanic”, “Babylon”, “#Manhole” and “Egoist.”

In the 11th week of its release THE FIRST SLAM DUNK has gained a spot from last week and is now at 2nd place. As of February 7th, the cumulative box office revenue exceeded 10 billion yen and has attracted 7.11 million moviegoers. 3rd place was followed by “The Legend & Butterfly” starring Takuya Kimura and Haruka Ayase.

In 8th place there is “#Manhole” a thriller starring Yuto Nakajima of Hey! Say! JUMP. Yuto plays the role of a salesman who falls into a manhole on the eve of the wedding and is unable to get out. While trying to escape by making full use of SNS, an unexpected plot twist emerges.

 

10th place is “Egoist” based on an autobiographical novel by essayist Makoto Takayama. The film version co-stars Ryohei Suzuki and Hio Miyazawa. Suzuki plays the role of Kosuke who lost his mother at the age of 14, and grew up to become fashion magazine editor who spent his adolescence suppressing his homosexual impulses. Miyazawa plays the role of Kosuke’s lover, Ryuta, who was raised by a single mother.
